This easy homemade curry with unique meat choice is a must-try, it definitely became one of our new family favourites from the first bite.

Perfectly cooked chunks of mutton, melting in your mouth, covered with all of the spices from the rich sauce that was bubbling away for an hour. Perfect with a side of rice or naan bread to complete the dish.

This recipe is perfect when you are just too tired to go on cooking a complicated curry. Simple ingredients and spies, short cooking time, and the most important amazing dish that will make everyone happy. Comfort food in a bowl!

Ingredients
  

  • 400 g Mutton Chunks
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric
  • Salt & Pepper
  • 2 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 1/2 tsp Fennel Seeds
  • 4 Cloves
  • 1 Bay Leaf
  • 1 Cinnamon Stick
  • 3 Cardamon Pods
  • 3 Onions
  • 1/4 tsp Ground Ginger
  • 3 Garlic Cloves
  • 1 Green Chilli
  • 1 cup Tomato Sauce
  • 1/2 tsp Garam Masala
  • 1.5 cup Water

Instructions
 

  • First marinate the mutton chunks with turmeric, salt, and pepper. Place in a bowl and set aside.
  • Heat oil in a large pot and add fennel seeds, cloves, bay leaf, cinnamon and cardamon. Let them sauté for a minute. Follow with chopped onions, sliced chilli and garlic, ground ginger and garam masala. Cook for 5 to 7 min or until the onions are translucent.
  • Once onions are ready add tomato sauce and bring to simmer. Add mutton chunks and water. Cover the pot with a lid and cook for 1h on medium heat. If the sauce is reducing a lot add more water.
  • Once cooking is finished season with salt and pepper to taste if needed. Serve with a side of rice or naan bread with a wedge of lime.
